Thursday 8 May saw a band of rain constantly pass east over the region. At about 1100 hours, local birder Adam Bassett located this transitional-plumaged GREY PLOVER at SPADE OAK PIT (LITTLE MARLOW), the bird then remaining on the spit for the rest of the day. Few other waders though other than a pair of Little Ringed Plover and some Lapwings, while 6 Common Shelducks remained and two drake Gadwalls. There was a huge influx of COMMON SWIFT involving at least 330 birds, with quite a few House Martin and Common Terns up to 33.
Otherwise, a lot of breeding activity going on, with several pairs of Common Tern on the rafts, Coots constructing nests, the Egyptian Geese with 9 surviving young (out of 13 initially) and two broods of Greylag Geese (5 and a 2)
